Cardtonic is a Nigerian financial-technology company founded by Kayode Faturoti and Usman Balogun after the founders identified difficulties Nigerians faced when making international payments. The business began in 2018 as a manually operated gift-card trading service, using gift cards as an alternative means of accessing international goods and services. It subsequently developed a digital platform and expanded its operations into Ghana. The company has since expanded beyond gift-card trading into virtual dollar cards, bill payments, eSIMs and consumer electronics, developing Cardtonic into a broader digital-finance platform.
