Peter DeSantis is an American technology executive who has spent more than 27 years at Amazon and has played a significant role in the development of Amazon Web Services. He was the leader of Amazon EC2 when the service launched in 2006 and subsequently led teams responsible for major AWS infrastructure and utility-computing services. He also spearheaded Amazon's 2015 acquisition of Annapurna Labs and continued to oversee its custom silicon organization. In December 2025, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy appointed DeSantis to lead a new organization focused on Amazon's most expansive AI models, custom silicon and quantum computing. His career places him among the senior technical leaders behind Amazon's cloud and advanced-computing infrastructure.
