Viginio D’Alberto

Viginio D’Alberto was an Italian construction entrepreneur and co-founder of Cappa and D’Alberto, established in Lagos in 1932 with Pietro Carlo Cappa. D’Alberto came to British West Africa in 1929 and subsequently arrived in Nigeria in 1931, where he met Cappa in Kaduna. Their partnership established one of Nigeria’s longest-running construction enterprises, which went on to participate in major building and civil engineering works during the colonial and post-independence periods. D’Alberto’s role places him among the early European entrepreneurs whose construction activities contributed to the development of Nigeria’s built environment.
