Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU)
Editorial Summary
Delta State University, Abraka (DELSU) is a public state university established on 30 April 1992 by the Government of Delta State under the administration of then Governor Olorogun Felix O. Ibru. Its institutional history predates its university status: the Abraka campus evolved from a government teachers' training college into a College of Education, later became affiliated with the University of Benin for degree programmes, and subsequently formed part of the former Bendel State University before becoming an autonomous university following the creation of Delta State.
DELSU began with faculties including Education, Agriculture, Arts, Science and the Social Sciences and has developed into a multidisciplinary university with academic activity spanning the sciences, engineering, environmental studies, agriculture, education, arts, social sciences, management, law and medical sciences. Its multi-campus structure includes the main campus at Abraka and additional campuses at Oleh and other locations within Delta State.
