Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT)
Editorial Summary
Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) is a public university in Enugu State with roots dating to July 30, 1980, when it was established as Anambra State University of Technology (ASUTECH). It holds a notable place in Nigeria's higher-education history as the country's first state-owned university of technology. Following the creation of Enugu State in 1991, the institution was renamed ESUT and retained the technological and multidisciplinary identity established under ASUTECH.
ESUT has since expanded beyond its original engineering, science and technology foundations into a broad university covering engineering, applied sciences, agriculture, medicine, pharmacy, law, management, social sciences, education and other disciplines. Its permanent campus is at Agbani, while its College of Medicine operates at Parklane, Enugu. The university currently promotes technology, research, entrepreneurship, innovation and capacity development as central elements of its institutional mission.
