Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE)
Editorial Summary
Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE) is a federal university established by the Nigerian government in 2011 to expand access to university education in states without a federal university. The institution commenced academic operations in the 2011/2012 session, initially with four faculties and 20 academic departments offering 27 programmes. It has since developed into a multi-campus institution with campuses in Oye-Ekiti and Ikole-Ekiti and a substantially broader academic structure.
FUOYE has expanded well beyond its original academic structure to encompass agriculture, engineering, computing, pharmacy, law, basic medical sciences, communication and media studies, environmental design and management, education, management sciences, social sciences, life sciences and physical sciences. The university also operates a postgraduate school, reflecting its development from a relatively young access-oriented federal institution into a broader teaching and research university.
