Presbyterian University, Ghana
Editorial Summary
Presbyterian University, Ghana is a private, non-profit university established by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in 2003 to expand access to higher education while integrating academic development with Christian ethics, personal discipline and social responsibility. Its origins reflect the Church’s longer involvement in formal education in Ghana, dating to its establishment of a primary school in 1843 and the Presbyterian Training College at Akropong in 1848.
The university began teaching at its Okwahu Campus in Abetifi with programmes in information and communication technology and business administration. It subsequently expanded into a multi-campus institution serving Abetifi-Kwahu, Akropong-Akuapem, Agogo, Tema and Kumasi. Its academic provision now encompasses science and technology, business, law, education, development studies, nursing, medical sciences and postgraduate education.
