Carbon is a Nigerian financial technology company whose history traces back to 2012, when founders Chijioke Dozie and Ngozi Dozie established One Credit to address the limited availability of consumer credit outside traditional banking. The business moved from paper-based lending to the digital Paylater platform in 2016, becoming one of Nigeria's early fully digital consumer-lending services, before expanding beyond credit and adopting the Carbon name in 2019. The company's development reflects an important stage in Nigeria's fintech evolution, when technology began to change how consumers accessed credit and other financial services.
