David Olaniyi Oyedepo

David Olaniyi Oyedepo is a Nigerian clergyman, author and institution builder whose work in higher education is closely associated with the establishment and development of Covenant University. The university's official history traces the initiative behind Covenant to Oyedepo's 1981 vision and records the formal process toward establishing the institution beginning in 1999. Following Federal Government approval in January 2002 and the issuance of its operating licence in February 2002, Covenant University opened in Ota as a private Christian university.
Oyedepo has remained closely connected to the institution as its Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Regents while Covenant has developed into a multidisciplinary university with colleges spanning business and social sciences, leadership and development studies, engineering, and science and technology.
